About the book

Sopheap and Channary thought a move to Phnom Penh would bring them a new beginning. Instead, it delivers them into a world where love curdles into obsession and every promise hides a shadow.

Behind the glass walls of a clinic meant for healing, something ancient and unseen begins to stir. Whispers follow Sopheap through the corridors, and Channary’s dreams twist into waking terrors. As their marriage unravels, they are drawn deeper into a web of secrets that binds the living to the dead.

What begins as the pursuit of survival becomes a descent into a reality where grief takes shape, silence has teeth, and the echoes of the past are not content to stay buried.

Chilling and immersive, The Silent Echoes is a Cambodian psychological horror about love corrupted, hope haunted, and the thin line between redemption and damnation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Silent Echoes about?

The Silent Echoes is a dark literary story set in modern Phnom Penh, following Sopheap, a therapist who seeks a new beginning but finds herself drawn into something haunting beneath the surface of her clinic and her own past.

The novel explores grief, memory, and the blurred line between love and loss, as the people Sopheap tries to heal begin to reveal echoes of something larger—something spiritual, tragic, and deeply human. It’s a story about how the past never truly dies, and how silence itself can carry voices we try to forget.

How much does The Silent Echoes cost?

The Silent Echoes is free to read with Kindle Unlimited.
If you prefer to own it, the ebook is $3.99, and the paperback edition is $10.99 — both available through Amazon.

Is The Silent Echoes part of a series?

The Silent Echoes is a stand-alone story, but it exists within a shared universe that connects Vincent Peou’s other works. Characters from his other novels occasionally appear throughout, weaving subtle links between the stories. Each book, however, is written to stand on its own, allowing new readers to begin anywhere in the world he’s created.

What inspired you to write The Silent Echoes?

I’ve always loved watching horror and reading psychological non-fiction. With The Silent Echoes, I wanted to challenge myself to create a story that blends those influences — something unsettling yet deeply human. My goal was to explore the complexity of relationships and the emotions that bind people together, crafting a tale that feels universally relatable, no matter where readers come from.
